![]() Graphics: Extremely well done with exceptional environments and smooth, fluid animations. If you are easily upset by brutal or harsh situations, look elsewhere, otherwise jump in and join the action. In summary, BioForge is immensely playable and enjoyable, albeit a dark story with touches of human depravity and cruelty. The interface is easily learned and convenient. The beautifully constructed atmosphere and backgrounds give a very real sense of being there. ![]() BioForge is that rare game that sucks you in and keeps you interested throughout the entire ordeal, skillfully creating a desire to see it to it's conclusion. The story itself is finely tuned and you find yourself caring about your character and his survival problems. Puzzle solving is nearly always logical and helps to advance the story and plot. On the positive side, graphics are as outstanding as the sound. In fact, reading all the offered selections is mandatory as many of the clues and subtle hints are contained therein. The use of text within the game can become tedious at times and the sheer quantity ensures some dissatisfaction for If having too many combat options can be considered a flaw, then BioForge is guilty - again, a matter of individual taste. And since camera views shift constantly (ala Alone in the Dark), the learning curve can be lengthy. ![]() Another minor flaw concerns combat where you'll have to master the techniques. Moral issues arise regarding difficult life and death choices (e.g., do you perform mercy killings or let victims die slowly at your feet do you beat adversaries senseless for the fun of it or kill quickly, etc.) The redeeming quality is that the game doesn't exploit these graphic depictions of human anguish and misery as shock value (unlike Harvester for example), but rather as stepping-stones toward a logical conclusion of the plot and game. A few minor complaints can be labeled as disturbing or insensitive and can vary according to individual players' viewpoints.īioForge contains some serious human cruelty and the accompanying graphics hammer the point home. Although several minor complaints can be levied at BioForge, the total package shines because of exceptional graphical quality, sound, and an intense story. Originally conceived as an interactive movie by the developers, Origin Systems, Inc., BioForge became much less an interactive movie than a fully realized and interactive action/adventure game, but the result is favorable.

![]() Not everyone enjoys remaking their character every 90 days for no reason at all. Then don't play it? Comment by Dreadriot16 on T09:18:43-05:00Īll these seasonal players who think its the greatest thing ever are delusional. they are placeholders for the season just to be discarded after. poe and diablo now feel hollow to me because my characters are no one. it has worked for wow for 18+ years and makes your character not feel so pointless. adding new quest content to grind is fine. I think just scaling the items each update. that feels gross to me Comment by Christofuhr on T08:28:02-05:00 it was a trivial task but if its so pointless why even make people do it at all in the first place? But in diablo3 getting to level cap depending on your play style only takes like a day anything. Why not cut the and let them just start farming the new gear without needing to relevel? There wont be power leveling in diablo4 in the same way as 3 due to monster scaling. So you are making people start from 0 again but also they have to regrind the same sets because better versions of them have been released. each season they just boost the sets by literally thousands of % damage bonuses. because they had a connection to their character and leveling took long and they wanted to get better gear. Why did so many people play diablo1 for so long? It didnt have seasons. Its because their characters had a permanence, a history. So why do people keep playing world of warcarft? Even at its lowest more people still played wow than diablo or path of exile. No one cares about standard/eternal characters, it's one of the (very good IMO) ways that PoE has helped keep the genre alive in today's ecosystem. For a complete list of bug fixes, quality of life changes, and so on head over to Blizzard’s official Patch 2.6.5 preview post.Seasons are the only reason to play the game. After all, if you want to hit Torment 16 you’re going to want your best geared, highest Paragon leveled Wizard or Crusader available to see how it shakes out. ![]() If you’re interested in helping test out the changes, you can copy one character per region onto the PTR servers in order to make sure that you’ve got a character at max level to test out the changes. Puzzle Rings have long been able to be used in a Kanai’s Cube to send players to the realm of Greed to go on a smash and grab loot spree, but a different result awaits players who use an Ancient or Primal Puzzle Ring in the cube, while there will also be up to five new Stash tabs for all players so those of us who are perennially short on stash space will find some relief. There are now three new Torment difficulty levels, with Torment 14, Torment 15 and Torment 16 providing even more of a challenge for higher Paragon level players and giving lower level characters more to strive for in the future. This really changes some class strategies around - at what point do you have enough Ancient Legendary items to divest yourself of that Wrath of the Wastes set, with its 10,000% bonus Whirlwind Damage, for example?īut that’s not all that’s coming on the 2.6.5 PTR. So you could wear that Ancient Legendary pair of pants from your favorite set, as long as you don’t have enough pieces of that set to give you a set bonus. It’s a pretty substantial bonus all told - a 750% damage buff and a 4% damage reduction per ancient legendary you have equipped, as long as you don’t have any set bonuses from those items. ![]() The Season of Nightmares, now with more Torment One assumes that like Season 16, only Seasonal characters will get this bonus applied to them, but it really changes the way you play your characters - the more Ancient Legendaries you have, the more rewarded you’ll be for eschewing your set bonus to war them. Season 17 will be taking a cue from Season 16’s Season of Grandeur with the Season of Nightmates, which takes the set bonus from the Legacy of Nightmares set - Player’s damage dealt is increased by 750% and damage taken is reduced by 4% for every Ancient Item they have equipped while having no Set Bonuses Active - and applies it to all characters. But that’s not all - we’re looking at a host of changes and quality of life adds, including three new Torment levels and an additional 5 stash tabs. And in that time, we’re going to be getting a lot of changes - including the Season of Nightmares, the upcoming Season 17 for players who enjoy the game’s Seasonal Play. Patch 2.6.5 will hit the PTR for a week starting on Friday, April 5th. But if anything, it made me want to write it more. So I took about a three-month break from writing this book. And by January, I was diagnosed with autoimmune Type 1 diabetes. And then I got - my immune system attacked my thyroid and then my pancreas. I had a very intense illness called an autoimmune storm that started with shingles in my eye. We went on unemployment, and then I got sick. SIMON: As you say in the afterword, 2020 was a tough year for your family, wasn't it? I think forgiveness is hard, and I think many of us turn to faith and friends, therapists, whatever, to help guide us to a more solid feeling of forgiveness. And then in the morning she wakes up, and she's not sure she forgives him anymore.Īnd I think that kind of mercurial quality of forgiveness - to me, I think that's really honest. As I started to think about it, and with him asking her to forgive him, I started to wonder, well, what does it feel like? And do you ever really forgive someone, or do you just kind of move on?Īnd there's one night where she thinks she has forgiven him, and she feels this warm rush go through her body, but she doesn't tell him. I mean, I thought I knew what forgiveness entailed, and then I was wrong. ![]() SIMON: I had not thought about it in depth until I read this book. I don't know what you think, Scott, but what is forgiveness, really? I mean, that was another thing I wanted to explore. Alice is suspicious of what we call forgiveness, isn't she? SIMON: Pete keeps asking Alice for - to forgive him for his affair. That was the thing, like, this question of, will this marriage make it? And what happens when you're stuck together, and it's COVID, and you retire to your unwinterized summer house, and your marriage is on the rocks? And in our family, it was actually a time of knitting back together, and that really interested me. I felt like I was aware of friends who were struggling or feeling imprisoned or feeling like I need this over. And I think the pandemic hastened a real reckoning with that question, honestly. SHETTERLY: I've always been preoccupied by divorce and marriages that fall apart. And there's no way of leaving those problems behind in Manhattan. And, of course, without giving away too much, at the heart of the story is the fact that this is a marriage that is in many ways coming apart, and then Pete and Alice have to go off together with their children. SIMON: You know, you can see someone about that now. So we've all, in our house, been living with Pete and Alice for quite a bit. And then I woke up the next morning, and she was in my head telling me the next page. And the entire first page of the book downloaded into my head, and I trundled upstairs in the dark and went into my office and sat down with a pad of paper and just wrote down everything she had said.
